Ordering materials for a job — with the takeoff already knowing what and how much, so a signed job becomes an order in one step.
Raised From The Job
Materials are job-driven. A signed job's takeoff already knows the quantities in supplier units, so raising a purchase order prefills from it rather than making you retype what you measured.
The PO records what you ordered, from whom, and against which job — so the cost lands on the right job's budget when it arrives.
- Prefilled from the job's takeoff.
- Quantities already converted to supplier units.
- PO costs feed the job's budget.
- Numbered under the account — 1042-PO1.
Six States
A PO is a Draft while you build it, Sent once it's with the vendor, and Confirmed when they acknowledge it. Receiving can be partial or complete, and Cancelled covers an order that didn't happen.
Partial receipt is the state that matters most in practice — a delivery that's short is the normal case, not the exception, and tracking it is how you find out before the crew is standing on site without it.
- Draft · Sent · Confirmed · Partial · Received · Cancelled.
- Partial receipt is tracked explicitly.
- Reached from the Materials hub's Orders segment.
Pro tip: Raise the PO even for a supplier you trust. It's the only record of what you actually ordered, and "that's not what I asked for" is an argument you win with paperwork or not at all.
Vendors, Inventory, And Equipment
The Materials hub holds the supply side together: your inventory of consumables with low-stock alerts, your equipment and its maintenance, your vendor directory with account numbers and terms, and the orders themselves.
Vendors and subcontractors are both here — a sub is a person you pay, a vendor is a business you buy from, and both carry ratings so you remember who actually delivers.
- Inventory with low-stock alerts.
- Equipment, rentals, and maintenance schedules.
- Vendor directory with account numbers and terms.
- Ratings on vendors and subs.
