Gusto and Check

Connect Gusto so pay runs can go to it, match your crew to its people, and keep paying yourself if you prefer.

Payroll providers calculate taxes and pay by direct deposit. Payroll is early access and for the owner or an admin on a paid plan, so turn on Early access in Settings, App first. Then Settings, Getting paid, Payroll opens the provider page.

Gusto

Connect Gusto and the page shows the connected company. Match your workers to Gusto's people: each unmatched person can be matched, or created in Gusto. Every run then pays the right person. When you send a run to Gusto it lands in Gusto's open payroll for that period. Gusto calculates taxes and net, and you submit it there. If Gusto is not available on your workspace, runs are paid your own way.

Disconnect Gusto stops sending runs and keeps those already sent. New runs are paid your own way until you connect again.

Check

Check withholds and files taxes and pays by direct deposit, and is a separate early access step that only appears for workspaces that have it. Your paid runs can also be exported for a year as the outside payroll history Check asks for.

Starting method

The page shows which method new runs start on: paying yourself, Gusto or Check. Each run ends with that choice on the Send step. See Pay runs.
