Scope changed. A change order is how that becomes money instead of an argument. Work done without an approved change order is work done for free.
Create one
A checklist shows what is missing: contract, title, work and reason.
- Tap the plus button and choose Change Order, or use New change order on the job's Money tab.
- Choose the Customer and the Job.
- Give the change a title and list the work and its price.
- Explain the reason for the change.
- Add days if the schedule moves.
- Save the draft. Saving creates the change-order number, such as 1042-CO1.
Get it approved
The customer can decline from the link. You see Declined by the customer. You can Resend the approval link.
- Send this change for approval to email the customer a link.
- Or have the customer sign on your device with On-site signature.
- Or choose Mark approved when they said yes in person. This is recorded by the office and is not a signature.
Statuses
Draft, Pending, Approved, Declined, Voided and Completed. Approval is the moment the money joins the contract. Until then it shows as projected.
The money
The contract impact shows the contract before, the change, and the contract now. Billing it is one tap: it creates an invoice for the change order.
The rate on each line is what the customer pays. Cost is tracked separately so margin still works.
Measuring errors
Mark the reason as a measuring error if the change came from a wrong measurement. The Weekly review tallies the cost of remeasures.
Pro tip: Write the change order before the work, not after.
